The Dawn of Creation

In its primordial state, the world was but an endless sea of energy loaded with potential. While it began as food for large filter feeding worms, their bodies created complex biproducts which in turn other things began to eat. The once pure mass of energy became a concoction that not only heightened the intelligence of the cosmic creatures feasting on it but also increased their desire to consume it. Assembling these energies together, one Primordian created a large spherical crystal within which it could store and manipulate the energy. Soon it began to create things within this crystal, small bacterial life that would process the inedible energy into edible ones and with unfettered access to sustenance their intelligence only grew at an increased rate. Repurposing their bacteria, they created small creatures instead, infinitely smaller than the Primordian but they were able to be placed on little spherical chunks of rock with a smaller crystal at its core. And more complex life came when the Primordian created stars, orbitting the planets around them. Life flourished, producing energies that the cosmic entity could eat while feeding on matter that it could not. From the plants that ate the light, to the creatures that ate the plants, to the creatures that ate other creatures. Every action, every emotion and every experience a soul had yielded food for the Primordian and even when each life flickered out, the energy of its soul was released back to the void leaving the shell behind to be consumed by other creatures, who in turn unknowingly serve food to their maker.

Azeria Rises

One of the planets created by the Primordian was a planet called Azeria , with a powerful crystal at its core. This crystal allowed its inhabitants to grow strong eventually resulting in large bipedal primates known as Titans rising to power. As their knowledge grew so did their technology and soon their reach became promethean in desire. They wanted to reach into the void itself, harness its power; and so they built a Reactor and powered it up to tear a rip into the fabric of their reality. As the crystalline wall of their universe fractured and they stared into the unending sea of power, something stared back at them. Not their creator, but something far more ominous.

The Age of the Titans

With their new benefactor granting them power, the Titans were able to modify the very fabric of life around them. Weaving it how they saw fit, they tampered with the structure of their world. But as they grew in power, wars broke out between rival factions for control of key locations and what was once development for the sake of their species became for the sake of themselves. Research went from curiosity to necessity. New life was created, miniature Titans that they called Humans , used as slave labour and military grunts to fight in wars but as these events unfolded the being that granted them access to their unfiltered magic feasted on the pain and suffering caused by the infighting. Their benefactor was not in fact a kind God, but one seeking to use them for its own gain.

The Reaping Begins

With the Titans becoming stronger and stronger in power, the benefactor saw its opportunity to cash in on its investment. Manipulating the Exiled King into doing its bidding, he was made to build a new reactor powered by the blood of Titans. By the time Titan authorities breached his fortress to stop him, he had already severed his heart and used it to spark a new tear. A tear into another Universe created by the Equivocator using the energy it had been fed by the hundreds of years the Titans had used its power. Demons stormed the planet, reaping each soul they could find and for the first time the Titans were outmatched. The Legends of Azeria all fell one by one trying to prevent the destruction of their world; each one failing to do so. As their leaders were slaughtered, the frontlines fell and scattered in retreat. All hope seemed lost until a golden light illuminated the sky.

No More

Five Titans were gifted with immense gifts by the saving light. The Seraph was given a new golden body with huge golden wings, swooping from the air and snatching up energy to create beams of light. The Trickster was given scaled skin, storing and reflecting light to create physical illusions of an army a thousand strong. The Glutton was given the ability to process the essence of blood, feasting on life force to make themselves a juggernaut of carnage; crushing the momentum of the opposing army. The Alchemist was granted the ability to mix and transmute elements, taking in one and releasing another to manipulate reality on the fly; such as forming walls of rock from jets of water. The Vehemet was gifted an infinite storage capacity for energy, creating a creature that existed as a walking nuclear reactor, incinerating demons with directed pulses of radiation.

Aether and Umbra

With the Demon army on the retreat, the Equivocator released masses of Umbral magic to artificially enhance its forces. Tethering the Guardians to its body, the Overseer directed its remaining Aether into the heroes. In the end, the heroes came out on top and sacrified their lives to shut down both reactors; their own bodies were incinerated in the process leaving their souls unanchored and floating aimlessly through the void waiting for a new body to attach to. A price paid for the salvation of their home. But the damage had been done. The Titan population was in tatters, fractions of what it used to be. With the Titans largely gone, Humans took a large amount of the blame from other species due to their resemblence. Despite this, they continue to operate key Titan facilities to keep the solar system chugging along.

A World Divided

Now, with their unifying overlords all but extinct, the species of Azeria and its interconnected planets tussle to survive. A hundred years on, the technology has fallen into disrepair as the Humans able to operate it die from old age and the world begins to grind to a standstill. Small pockets of corrupting energy leak from the Void, creating monsters that hunt the living, Guilds of fighters forming to send them back to oblivion. On the world stage, small shards of the remaining forces of each faction continuing to hold territory and infight for meaningless positions of leadership, small groups of people seek to return the Titans to power and revive the glory of the world that once existed.
